MANKATO, Minn. (KMSP) - Walk-throughs and helmet-only practices are small steps in training camp, but the Minnesota Vikings are still trying to hit their stride right here at the start.
Saturday’s showing did have some players “sidelined.” All eyes were on Cordarrelle Patterson this offseason, but he only watched after taking a fall on Friday, with a shoulder injury that will keep him out a few days.
But there were plenty of other wide outs getting in work, and making plays as they all pursue a starting spot in a loaded position group.
Running back Adrian Peterson was also limited to walk-through type activities with a hamstring pull, but that meant many running back reps for Jerick McKinnon. The third year back had a busy day all around, working with the first team offense in addition to special teams.
Day three will turn up the heat, with more than just helmets on the practice field.
The full-pads come on for the first time on Sunday, a sign that business is really about to begin for everyone.
