Minnesota woman wins silver in BMX racing at Olympics
RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - St. Cloud native Alise Post won the silver medal in BMX Cycling at the Olympics on Friday.
Her silver medal finish is the first ever for a U.S. woman in the event, according to USA BMX.
Post was unable to place in London in 2012 and made sure to bring home a different result this time around.
“I came here hoping for a gold medal, and here I am with a silver, and I’m 100 percent proud of my effort today - feels like a win to me," said Post in a press conference. It is such an amazing honor to be here today wearing the stars and stripes, and I really hope this gets kids watching at home excited to get to the local tracks just like we did.”
Connor Fields of Las Vegas brought home gold in the men's event.
