Harrison Smith: Vikings training camp 'feels like the first time'

Minnesota Vikings All-Pro safety Harrison Smith is entering his fourth season with the club, and as he approaches training camp time, like Foreigner, he says it always "feels like the first time."

“I think a lot of guys dread camp, but once you get down there and you’re with all the guys, and you’re back at it just working, it’s a lot of fun, and you just embrace it and make it what it should be,” he said.

Smith always has an eye for the end zone, but he says he admires other safeties who take chances and force turnovers on defense, which, he says, is exactly why coaches call it defense in the first place.

“One thing you hear about is guys baiting quarterbacks and guys taking risks and doing those things, but it’s such a hard game and there are so many good players that every play, I’m just trying to play my technique and execute my job and if you do that every play, then opportunities will arise where you can go get the ball within the defense,” he said. “Just go make the play when you get the chance.”
