Former Gophers football coach Kill named associate AD at K-State

Former Minnesota football head coach Jerry Kill will be the new associate athletic director at Kansas State, the school announced on Tuesday.

"Excited to announce Coach Jerry Kill as our new Associate AD for Admin and welcome Rebecca and him to #KState #Family," tweeted Kansas State athletic director John Currie.

Kill, a Kansas native, unexpectedly announced on Oct. 28 he would immediately retire for health reasons. At an emotional press conference, Kill said his doctors advised him to retire from football for the sake of his long-term health.

The 54-year-old said last July he hadn't suffered a seizure in over a year and a half. He was diagnosed in 2005 while coaching at Southern Illinois.

He fought through the 2014 season after he had a seizure on the sidelines Sept. 14 at halftime while facing Western Illinois. On Oct. 5, another seizure kept him from traveling to Michigan, and he took a short leave for treatment.
