Apple Valley basketball star Tre Jones picks Duke

APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (KMSP) - Apple Valley's five-star basketball recruit Tre Jones chose Duke University to continue his basketball career Sunday, following in his brother Tyus' footsteps after he won a national championship with the school in 2015.

The announcement came in the form of a professionally made video thanking his family, his teammates and his coaches for helping the incoming senior to get this far.

A large crowd gathered at Cedar Valley Church in Bloomington to hear the news, with a standing ovation after the big reveal. 

Tre has one more season left at Apple Valley High School, where he's already won two Class 4A state championships. 

He's considered the top point guard in the country and a top-10 recruit overall, and before Sunday had narrowed his choices down to Minnesota, Duke, Ohio State, USC and UCLA.
