WAYZATA, Minn. (KMSP) - Hockey wasn’t the only taking place on the ice this weekend. The 32nd annual Chilly Open teed off on Lake Minnetonka Saturday, proving it’s never too cold or too early to be thinking about golf.
The golf tournament takes place every year on the frozen lake, with tennis balls replacing golf balls and hockey sticks and other types of “clubs” replacing typical golf gear. But the scores are only secondary when it comes to having a little fun on the shores of Wayzata Bay.
“The hardest part about playing? If you take it too seriously, you kind of already lost,” Chilly Open organizer Jon Reyerson said.
