ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KMSP) - St. Cloud Tech High School is on their way back to the Minnesota girls state tennis tournament for the fourth consecutive year, but the team is led by a trio of Tigers who are bound by more than just tennis.
"We play a lot of tennis. It was a goal of ours to make it to state,” Taylor Tarrolly said.
Taylor, Katelyn and Ashley Tarrolly all won individual sectional tennis titles last weekend, and that sends the three sisters to state, together. Next week's trip to Minneapolis will also be a family getaway.
“The fact that we were all able to win the section… it's still unreal. It still feels like a dream,” Taylor said.
“Taylor and Katelyn played singles all season, but decided to pair up for doubles competition for the first time in sectionals. And that double down decision paid off,” Ashley said.
That pairing produced the opportunity for younger sister Ashley to have her chance to make it to the final event of the high school season in singles competition even though she isn’t technically in high school.
"My goal is to play my best,” Ashely said. “Just gonna go out there, and play my heart out."
St. Cloud Tech is still waiting for its first ever individual champion in team history -- but this trio is hoping to serve up success for their team as a whole, looking for the only state title in Tiger's program history.
