Jake Guentzel brings Stanley Cup home to Woodbury, Minn.

- The Minnesota Wild have yet to win the Stanley Cup, but that doesn’t mean the holy grail of hockey doesn’t make the occasional stops here in the state.

Woodbury native Jake Guentzel brought the Stanley Cup to the State of Hockey Thursday after winning the trophy during his rookie season with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The 22-year-old joined the Penguins halfway through the season. He scored on his first shift in the NHL and never looked back, helping Pittsburg win their second straight Stanley Cup.

Thursday was Guentzel’s day with the Cup and he wanted to share it was as many fans as possible. He brought the Cup to the rink where his youth hockey career began in Woodbury. Thousands of fans were lined up right out the door to get a chance to take a picture of Jake with the Cup.
