Minnesota Vikings second and third round draft picks

- After a quiet first day, the Minnesota Vikings have made their first pick in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The Vikings traded with the Cincinnati Bengals to get the 41st pick. They selected Florida State runningback Dalvin Cook.

Cook was the Orange Bowl MVP with 145 yards and one touchdown against Michigan. He rushed for more than 1000 yards in each of his three seasons at FSU.

General Manager Rick Spielman said he felt Cook was too good to not get and one of the top two runningbacks in draft. He says Cook told him he'd leave troubles, bad crowd in the past.

When asked about coming into a loaded backfield day one, Cook said he's ready for whatever role and will be "best Dalvin I can be."

The Vikings traded up with the New York Jets for the 70th overall pick and picked center Pat Elflein from the Ohio State University.

Elflein started three years on the Buckeyes offensive line and was named First-Team All-Big Ten Conference three times.
