Timberwolves lose Shabazz Muhammad for season

Minnesota Timberwolves guard/forward Shabazz Muhammad will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a ruptured ligament in his middle finger, the team announced Saturday. The injury occurred during practice on Wednesday, Feb. 18, but didn't keep Muhammad out of Friday's game against the Phoenix Suns.

The surgery will be performed Monday at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

In 38 games this season, including 13 starts, Muhammad averaged 13.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
