MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - At least 55 high schools across Minnesota have pushed up the start time of Saturday’s football games because of severe weather concerns. The marquee matchup of Eden Prairie vs Totino-Grace is sticking to its 7 p.m. scheduled kickoff.
Saturday weather timeline
4:00 p.m. - Storms develop in extreme western Minnesota ahead of a cold front, then grow and form a line that will take aim on the Twin Cities metro.
8:00 p.m. - Storms approach western metro and move through the area by midnight.
Key risks - As storms form into a line, the main concern is strong wind and large hail and frequent lightning. As with any supercell thunderstorm, there is a possibility of an isolated tornado.
Storms will develop SATURDAY afternoon across West/Central MN, then march east into the Metro/I-35 corridor in the evening ...— Keith Marler (@KeithMarlerFox9) August 21, 2015
