Wounded veteran receives lawnmower gift

A Coon Rapids veteran is celebrating the Fourth of July by getting some of his independence back.

Scott Favilla was severely wounded while serving in the Gulf War back in 1991 and following a long fundraising effort, he is finally able to do a household chore he's been missing – mowing the lawn.

He had been using a push mower, but due to his injuries to his left arm and more, he quickly grew tired using the mower and could not use it anymore.

On Friday morning, the fundraisers delivered him his new ride-on mower. Favilla was very thankful for the new mower.

“It’s going to be a good summer now,” he said.
