Police: St. Paul woman tried to drive car off of tow truck

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- St. Paul police say a woman tried to drive her car off of a tow truck during the city's snow emergency. When the woman saw her car being towed Wednesday morning, police say she ran out of her home, yelled at the tow truck driver and then jumped in her car and tried to drive off.

The Star Tribune reports the woman's car was halfway up the flatbed of the tow truck when she jumped in and started the engine.

But a police spokesman says chains and cables kept the woman from driving her car backward off the truck bed.

The woman told officers she was unaware of the snow emergency, which requires that vehicles be moved so plows can clear snow. She was not cited.
