2 people dead inside White Bear Lake home for more than a year

WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. (KMSP) - Two people found dead inside a White Bear Lake, Minnesota home Tuesday morning had been dead for more than a year, according to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner. That information is consistent with what Robert Kuefler told police when he indicated they had each passed away on separate occasions in 2015.

Kuefler, 59, was arrested and booked into the Ramsey County Jail on suspicion of financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult. Kuefler remains in custody awaiting criminal charges.

The medical examiner was unable to determine the cause of death of each person, but they believe it was natural causes. The medical examiner will continue working to confirm the identities of both individuals, but that may take several weeks.

Overgrown lawn leads to police call

At 7:32 a.m. Tuesday morning, White Bear Lake police responded to the home on the 4700 block of Sandra Lane for a welfare check. A neighbor said there had been no activity at the home, that the yard was overgrown, and that they were concerned for the resident’s welfare.

Neighbors said there may be three people living at home, including 59-year-old twin brothers and their elderly mother. Officers were also told that the vehicle parked in the driveway belonged to one of the brothers, identified as Robert Kuefler, and that it had not moved for the past week and a half. 

Cops saw dead person through window

Officers at the scene were able to see a dead person through a main floor window. They then made entry and found a second body downstairs. Robert Kuefler was home at the time of search and he was detained without incident. 

The case remains under investigation, with assistance from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
