Wetterlings to hold Paynesville meeting after new developments

- Following several high-profile developments in their son's disappearance, Patty and Jerry Wetterling are heading to Paynesville, Minn. to lead a community meeting Monday night. The Wetterlings describe the 7 p.m. gathering at Paynesville High School as a chance for residents to share stories and heal.

A former Paynesville, Minn. man named Danny Heinrich was charged recently with 4 counts of child pornography possession after a search warrant was executed at his home in Annan dale, Minn. Heinrich was also named a person of interest in the Jacob Wetterling case.

A string of unsolved sexual assaults on young Paynesville boys took place before Jacob Wetterling disappeared in 1989.

“We still don’t know who took Jacob. We have as many questions or more as all of you...but the one question we have said for 26 years is, where’s Jacob? Where is Jacob? I really believe that somebody in this community knows,” Patty Wetterling said at a Nov. 3 news conference. “We are really, really proud of Jared and all of the victims that came forward in Paynesville. There may be other victims. There may be other stories to share.”
