VIDEO: Raymond Kmetz blames New Hope officials for his divorce, homelessness

Raymond Kmetz, the 68-year-old man who shot two police officers at New Hope City Hall last night before he was shot and killed, was no stranger to city officials there.

During an "open forum" at a New Hope City Council meeting last August 11, Kmetz went on a rant in front of city officials. In particular, he blamed the city's attorney for his homelessness and the end of his 45-year marriage.

"If I say anything inappropriate to anyone of you, please let me know," Kmetz said. "Or if I sound like I'm trying to assault you, please let me know."

Though he didn't make the specific nature of his beef clear, Kmetz blamed the prosecutor for taking "everything right down to the money out of the safe for groceries."

"You can get me, but leave my family alone," Kmetz concluded just before council members told him he needed to wrap it up so they could proceed with their meeting. "It's not hard to take a family out, and if you think I'm uncompliant [sic]... I know that, and you think it's a big joke, I know that."
