The Mall of America's rotunda was sizzling Saturday afternoon as veterans and chefs participated in the Ultimate Chef Challenge.
Both active duty military and veterans were paired up with a professional chef from a Mall of America restaurant for the Veteran’s Day cook off. A few duos wore matching shirts; other veterans channeled their inner chef in full uniform.
Each team was required to use a military staple, an MRE (Meals Ready to Eat) and transform it into a delicious dish. An eager audience peered over the edges of the floors surrounding the rotunda to see the teams racing the clock.
The winners headed home with a Mall of America prize package worth over $500.
Mall of America employs more than 100 active and veteran military personnel.
