UW-Stout student from Saudi Arabia assaulted, in serious condition

Update: 24-year-old Hussain Alnahdi died from his injuries at the Mayo Clinic Health Center in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on Monday afternoon, according to the University of Wisconsin-Stout. 

Police in Menomonie, Wisconsin are investigating a violent assault that left a 24-year-old international student from Saudi Arabia unconscious early Sunday morning.

The assault happened around 2 a.m. on the 400 block of Main Street East in downtown Menomonie near Topper’s Pizza. When officers arrived, they found the victim unconscious and bleeding from his mouth and nose. The student is being treated at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, where he is listed in serious condition.

Police said there are witness reports that the suspect is a white man, about 6 feet tall, who fled the scene after the incident.

Authorities are not releasing the student’s name until his family members can be contacted.
