Two people were struck and killed after they got out of their car to inspect damage from a minor crash.

It happened in Pine County around 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

The State Patrol says an international semi was backing into a driveway on Highway 18 when a Chrysler 300 traveling westbound sideswiped the semi-trailer.

When both drivers got out and were standing on the roadway, a Buick Roadmaster traveling westbound struck them.

68-year-old Ronnie Colsch from Caledonia was pronounced dead at the scene and a 63-year-old from Finlayson later died at the hospital from his injuries.

44-year-old Martin Patterson has been identified as the driver of the Buick. Patterson was transported to a hospital in Sandstone with non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
