Two injured in wrong-way crash on I-35E off-ramp

Two people were hurt in a car crash on an off-ramp from Interstate 35E to I-494 early Sunday morning, according to a release from the State Patrol.

The crash followed a police chase when a Honda Accord began going the wrong way on I-694 in White Bear Lake, officials said. An officer stopped the car once, noting that the driver appeared to be under the influence before he fled onto I-35E--heading once again in the wrong direction.

The male wrong-way driver struck another Accord on the off-ramp to I-494, seriously injuring himself and the 64-year-old driver of the other car.

He will be placed under under arrest after being released from the hospital, officials said. The incident remains under investigation.
