Eduardo Escobar is heading to the desert after the Minnesota Twins traded the middle infielder to the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday.

Escobar, 29, leads MLB with 37 doubles. He was hitting .274 with 15 home runs and 63 RBIs in his seventh season in Minnesota.

The Twins will receive three minor leaguers in right-handed pitcher Jhoan Durán, outfielder Ernie De La Trinidad and outfielder Gabriel Maciel in return.

The trade comes just days before Tuesday's non-waiver trade deadline.
