Connor lost his Seattle SuperSonics to Oklahoma City in 2008, so he took matters into his own hands to find himself a new NBA team to worship. He wrote personalized, hand-written letters to all 30 NBA teams asking why he should root for them.
Only the Timberwolves responded, and while they may be dead last in the Western Conference, the 16-year-old has been transformed into an incredibly enthusiastic fan. The Wolves flew him to Minnesota on Friday to see his team take on the Orlando Magic. He'll get to stand on the Target Center floor to watch warmups before the game, have dinner in the media room and will hang out with Zach LaVine before his basketball camp on Saturday at Maple Grove High School.
Connor admitted he wasn't expecting a response at all.
"I thought, well, these NBA teams are big and they have millions of fans for every team, so I doubt they read their mail, but it was really exciting to know that the Timberwolves do, and they care," he said. "I know that the team is young and exciting and I love watching Rubio and Wiggins and I know that they're going to be really good in the future."
