Third gunman in Sept. downtown shooting spree found guilty

A Hennepin County District Court Judge found a third gunman involved in a downtown Minneapolis shooting spree last September guilty.

26-year-old Maurice Carter was found guilty of five counts of assault and one count of reckless discharge of a firearm.

Carter will be sentenced Sept. 16. He is expected to received 10 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint, officers saw Carter fire several shots toward the intersection of 5th and Hennepin Avenue around 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 12, where there was a large crowd of people leaving the clubs. Six people were injured in the shootings.

Two other gunmen were involved. Detroit Davis-Riley pleaded guilty in April to multiple charges and DeMarco Gunn pleaded guilty to second-degree assault in March.
