The Minneapolis homes Prince made famous

Prince Rogers Nelson was born in Minneapolis on June 7, 1958. And while he went on to become an international music phenomenon, to Prince, Minnesota was always home, and many devoted Prince fans went to the homes he made famous after learning of his death.

Alda Reed will never forget the day she says Prince showed up at her doorstep.

"I'm like, ‘Why are you taking pictures of the house?’ And he's like, ‘I grew up here.”

Prince will forever loom large with the places he made famous, standing as permanent purple reminders that greatness has a name. Outside the Minneapolis home where he filmed Purple Rain, a single balloon now stands, with cars driving by extra slow as fans step out to take a tearful picture.
