WACONIA, Minn. (FOX 9) - The Waconia High School gymnastics team is pushing to compete in the state tournament after losing one of their best athletes to injury earlier this season.
Katie Fahrenkamp is a senior at Waconia High School. She and her teammates made history last year becoming the school's firstever team to compete at state. This year, she suffered a torn MCL during a warm-up early in the season.
Now, Katie hopes to inspire her teammates as they compete for another shot at a state title.
"I’ve seen a lot of girls working new skills, which is awesome in the middle of season,” said Katie. “A lot of people are going the extra mile too, which is pretty cool to see."
FOX 9 photojournalist Justin McCray shares Katie's story and the team's run for a return to state.
