Target says rescinded job offers not related to Canada pull out

A Target store in Delta, British Columbia

Last week, Fox 9 broke the news that Target recently rescinded job offers to about 40 new hires, some of whom had already bought homes in the Twin Cities in the expectation they'd be moving here.

On the heels of that story comes today's news that Target is pulling out of Canada less than two years after opening its first store there and only three months after the retailer's largest Canadian store opened in Winnipeg.

We asked Target spokesperson Molly Snyder if the two developments are related.

"No direct connection at all," Snyder replied in an email. "Certainly, we are continuing to look at our business and make smart, strategic choices on investments and expense. But these positions were not at all related to Target Canada."
