Brooklyn Park PD arrest juvenile suspect wanted in two attempted assault cases

Police in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, have arrested a juvenile suspect wanted in two assaults.

After avoiding police for weeks, a juvenile suspected in the attempted kidnapping and rape of a woman outside of a Brooklyn Park grocery store struck again.

Friday, authorities were called to a park on the 5900 block of 65th Avenue North. A 20-year-old woman said she was attacked by a teen who tried to sexually assault her.

As in the case before, this woman fought the teen off.

Looking for a quick escape, the teen, who is described as a black male about age 14, burst into a nearby home.

When the residents living there kicked him out, the victim, who was joined by her uncle, pinned down the suspect until police arrived.

Authorities say the suspect is the same teen caught on surveillance video in an ALDI parking wielding a knife and charging a woman from behind last month.

He forced that woman to drive to a nearby neighborhood where he attempted to rape her, but she managed to get away.

With the police on alert, the attack left many living in the community on edge. The suspect remains in police custody and faces serious criminal charges.
