ST. PAUL, Minn. (FOX 9) - St. Paul police are investigating a homicide on Maryland Avenue East early Saturday morning.
St. Paul Police Spokesperson Steve Linders said the calls "poured in" around 3:30 a.m. reporting that multiple people were shot at the 400 block of Maryland Avenue East. Officers responded to a "chaotic scene," believed to be a house party, and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the men died at the scene.
The victim has been identified as Charles Frye, 39, of St. Paul.
The other man was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has been released.
Neighbors said new tenants moved into the house in recent months, and it has been the source of problems ever since.
“As soon as the police officer came to the door, I knew it was the corner house,” said one woman. “We’ve had trouble with it on Saturday and Sunday mornings. About 5 a.m. or 6 a.m. they have tons of people coming down the street and leaving.”
Police sent a bus full of 20 possible witnesses to headquarters for interviews.
Linders said they are looking into whether anyone has cell phone video from the party, or even the shooting itself.
As of Monday afternoon, no arrests have been made and the case remains under investigation.
This marks the city's third homicide of 2019. Those with information are asked to call 651-266-5650.
