Spooner High volleyball team bus and car collide, 2 killed

- A school bus carrying the Spooner High School Volleyball team collided with a Chevy Cavalier in northwest Wisconsin on Saturday, killing a woman and her 3-year-old daughter.  There were 16 injuries reported on the school bus.

The crash occurred around 2:35 p.m. on Hwy. 63 at the junction of County Hwy. B, just north of Cumberland, Wis.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the vehicle being driven by 29-year-old Tiffany Hostetler was westbound on County Highway B and failed to stop for the school bus, which was northbound on Hwy. 63. The school bus then struck her Chevy Cavalier on the driver’s side.

The school bus, owned and operated by Badger Buses of Spooner Inc., came to rest in a ditch partially submerged in water. Officials said all occupants of the bus were able to safely exit through the rear emergency exit.

“The students, coaching staff and bus driver were transported to Cumberland Memorial Hospital,” the state patrol said. “Once at the hospital, the students were treated and released to their parents with no significant injuries.”

Hostetler and her 3-year-old daughter Elenora Hutton were both killed in the incident -- her 5-year-old son Marshall Hutton has life threatening injuries.
