Southwest High School Athletic Director on leave

The athletic director at Southwest High School in Minneapolis is on administrative leave, according to a Minneapolis Public Schools spokesman.

Ryan Lamberty is on leave, but citing privacy laws the district would not say why. Lamberty has been employed by the school district since November 1997, except for a two-month gap in the summer of 2006, according to employee records.

Friday night at Southwest High School, the Lady Lakers basketball team faced off against the Coon Rapids Cardinals, but the buzz in the stands was about the major move the school took off the court.

"I had not heard about that which is pretty surprising to me because the district is usually pretty good about putting something out when something like that happens," said Roger Pearson, a parent.

District officials say in his 20 years with MPS, Lamberty had one complaint filed against him which was investigated, but there was no disciplinary action taken.
