Several gunshots, but no victim in Lake St. Croix Beach

Washington County sheriff’s deputies were called to the area of Riviera Avenue and 17th Street in the small riverside community of Lake St. Croix Beach overnight after a neighbor reported the sound of multiple gunshots.

Deputies arrived on the scene at about 2:50 a.m. Thursday and remained in the neighborhood after daybreak. There’s no indication that anyone was shot, and neighbors said there’s no reason anyone would be targeted.

Investigators placed a number of evidence markers in the street, typically used to mark shell casings.

During the course of the investigation, one man was detained for questioning, but later released. There was one man inside the house that was fired upon, and multiple bullet holes were found, but no injuries were reported.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Sgt. Mike Benson at 651-430-7854.
