Family: Victim in semi crash was cook at Univ. of Minnesota

- The man struck by a semi near University of Minnesota campus Wednesday afternoon has died from his injuries.

Charles Coleman, 46, of Brooklyn Center was attempting to cross University Avenue at the intersection with Huron Boulevard around 2:15 p.m. when he reportedly struck the side of a semi-truck and was knocked underneath its trailer, according to Minneapolis Police. Paramedics took him to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died early Thursday morning.

Family members said Coleman worked as a cook at the university and was on his way home after the lunch shift, likely on his way to the light rail station.

The semi driver stopped immediately and is cooperating with investigators.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the name of the victim and the official cause of death.

The crash remains under investigation.
