Search suspended for missing paddle boarder on Lake Waconia

WACONIA, Minn. (KMSP) - Authorities in Carver County are suspending their search for a missing paddle boarder on Lake Waconia due to poor weather conditions. The man was reported missing on Saturday afternoon.

The Carver County Sheriff’s Office says they will resume searching for the missing paddle boarder at 9 a.m. on Monday, weather permitting. 

Deputies found the man’s paddle board during the search.

The water on the lake is not frozen, but the temperatures are dangerously low.

“The water temperature’s about 38 degrees,” Lt. Patrick Barry told Fox 9. “Without thermal protection, It’s going to take about 10 to 15 minutes and the person’s going to start going into hypothermic shock probably so it’s not going to take very long.”
