'Salute to Prince' draws crowds to Super Bowl Live

- A star-studded cast of former Prince bandmates and associates took the stage Monday night at the Super Bowl Experience, giving visiting fans a little taste of the Minneapolis sound.

The entire event was organized by producers and fellow Minnesotans Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who even got a shoutout from Bruno Mars Sunday evening at the Grammy Awards.

Sheila E led off the night, with Morris Day and the Time following up with a heartfelt tribute to their former collaborator and frequent rival. Prince's main backing group The Revolution even closed out the night in high fashion with a rendition of Purple Rain.

Cold temperatures and heavy traffic couldn't keep the crowds away, with hundreds gathered at Nicollett Mall to kick off a week of Super Bowl festivities.

"I know Prince would have been here performing at the Super Bowl if he was alive," attendee Christine Gunderson said. "It's very sad he couldn't be here."
