Robbinsdale police officer injured during traffic stop, suspect detained

- A Robbinsdale, Minn. police officer was injured during a traffic stop in Crystal, Minn. late Wednesday night, prompting a manhunt for the suspect. According to police, the officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at 48th Avenue N.  and Welcome Avenue N. around 11 p.m., and the driver did not cooperate.

"The driver immediately exited the vehicle and was non-compliant with the officer’s commands," the Robbinsdale Police Department said in a press release  "The driver started running when the officer heard what sounded like a gunshot, which is also heard on the squad camera recording."

Police said a "person of interest" was detained. Numerous law enforcement agencies assisted in setting up a perimeter in the area.
