Robbery suspect flees into Minneapolis child center

A robbery suspect who fled into a child development center in south Minneapolis on Wednesday evening has been taken into custody.

Minneapolis police responded to a report of a robbery at 5:45 p.m. near the Head Start McKnight Early Childhood Family Development Center at 4225 3rd Avenue S.

Officers saw a man matching the suspect, he fled, and officers pursued him on foot as he ran into the child development center with children inside. The building was immediately put on lockdown and police found him hiding in the building.

The robbery victim identified him and he will be booked at the Hennepin County Jail.
