Ramsey County posts video of K-9 that was beaten enjoying himself in field

The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office posted a video Thursday of their K-9 Boone enjoying himself in a training field, this comes after one of their K-9 handlers was charged with animal cruelty when security video caught him hitting and throwing the dog to the ground last week.

“Here is Boone on our K-9 training field,” the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office wrote Thursday on their Facebook.  “As you can see from the video, he loves his job and is very good at it. Thank you for your continued concern for Boone, we greatly appreciate it.”

Brett Arthur Berry, 48, is charged with two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty and assaulting a public safety dog for the June 15 incident at the Carlton, Minn. casino. Berry was in town with numerous K-9 handlers for training and certification.

The dog was brought to the casino parking lot, where Berry was seen scolding the K-9 before picking it up by the collar and throwing it to the ground. The dog ran away and went back into the casino, but became trapped between two sets of entry doors. Berry then caught up to the K-9 and repeatedly struck the dog.
