Quaker Oats issuing recall of Quinoa Granola Bars

The Quaker Oats company is issuing a voluntary recall of Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars due to a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Company officials said the sunflower seeds used in the product may have been exposed to the pathogenic bacteria.

Listeria can cause serious infections in children, elderly, pregnant women and those with compromised immune systems. Extreme cases can result in death. No illnesses have been reported, but the company is taking precautions to get the products off the shelves.

The recalled products include:

6.1 ounce boxes of Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars Chocolate Nut Medley with UPC code 30000 32241 and Best Before Dates of: 10/16/2016, 10/17/2016

6.1 ounce boxes of Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars Yogurt, Fruit & Nut Medley with UPC code 30000 32243 and Best Before Dates of: 10/10/2016, 10/11/2016

Customers should throw out the above products or can go to a store to get a refund.
