Prior Lake, Minn. native lands starring role in 'Pitch'

- Kylie Bunbury once tried out for American Idol, but she was cut during the Hollywood round. Now, with her starring role on the new show "Pitch", she is proving she is ready for the big leagues.

"She went for her dream and she did it. Not that she couldn't but a lot of people don't take the chance. Se went and did it all on her own and I'm so proud that she is my daughter," Kylie's mother, Kristi Novak Bunbury, said.

Kylie Bunbury is used to the spotlight.

Her father is Canadian Hall Of Fame soccer player Alex Bunbury and her younger brother is Major League Soccer player Teal Bunbury.

Kylie lived in England and Portugal before moving to Minnesota with her family when she was in the 4th grade.
She went to Prior Lake High School, where she ran track and played basketball and soccer.

After a couple of years of modeling in the Twin Cities, she headed to Hollywood.

"She was a performer. She loves being on stage and she's very good at it," her mother said.

Now, Kylie is taking a swing at being a leading lady, playing a young pitcher named Ginny Baker who becomes the first women to start in baseball's major leagues.

Her mother visited the set in Los Angeles about a month ago and met some of Kylie's co-stars.

But, Novak Bunbury says Kylie's annual trips back to Minnesota keep her grounded.

"It gets her re-focused on life. Novak Bunbury said. "This is real life and I'll go back to my job but this is real life. It's very good for her."

Kylie says her mother telling her she can do anything gave her the confidence to follow her dreams.

And Novak Bunbury can't wait for the rest of the world to see her daughter knock it out of the park.

"She does awesome. She's amazing. It feels like a mini-movie you are watching. Gets you all emotional. I'm really excited. Its going to be a fun show to watch," Novak Bunbury said.

Bunbury also had roles in "Under The Dome" and "Tut," but this is her biggest role to date.
