Walter Mondale to speak at the U on 'choosing the next vice president'

- Former Vice President Walter Mondale will be speaking at the University of Minnesota next month for an event called "Second in Command: Choosing the Next Vice President."

"Vice President Mondale will be joined by Joel K. Goldstein, the country's leading scholar of Vice Presidents, to weigh each party's choice and its importance to the campaign and to the next presidency," a press release said.

The event is set to take place on July 7, and is free and open to the public. It's being hosted by the Center for the Study of Politics and Governance at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs.

Mondale, 88, served as the 42nd Vice President of the United States under President Jimmy Carter and as a U.S. Senator from Minnesota.
