Minnesota rep: Congress about as popular at the Kardashians

Minnesota State Rep. Tony Cornish says he will not challenge U.S. Rep. Tim Walz for his seat in Congress. Cornish (R-Vernon Center) said he likes his current job too much and doesn't want to jump into the constant cycle of campaign fundraising.

Cornish is currently serving his seventh term in the Minnesota House, where he's built a reputation as one of the state's strongest gun right advocates.

"Why would I take a chance on running for a position in Congress when Congress has about as popular a rating as the Kardashian family right now," Cornish said.

Walz, a Democrat, will once again be challenged by Blue Earth, Minn. businessman Jim Hagedorn in Minnesota's 1st District. Hagedorn lost to Walz in the 2014 election.
