Plymouth police investigate after student brings gun to Armstrong High School

Plymouth police are investigating after a student brought a handgun to school on Thursday. According to police, the handgun was found unloaded in the student’s backpack.

Police say they’re investigating another incident that happened on Tuesday across the street from Armstrong High School where an unknown person pointed a gun while sitting in a vehicle. Police say they’re trying to figure out if it was the same person.

This letter was sent to Armstrong High School families around 10:50 a.m. on Thursday,

Dear Armstrong High School Families,

Today, one of our students was found with a firearm and magazine in the Armstrong High School Parking Lot. Staff and police were alerted, immediately responded to the situation and recovered the weapon from the student. The firearm was never used and the student has been removed from school by the Plymouth Police Department, which is investigating the incident.

The intent of the student having the weapon is also being investigated. The student will be disciplined according to district policy. 

No students were physically harmed during this incident. We know several students witnessed this incident and may have concerns.
