Pedestrian killed in crash in St. Cloud, Minnesota

A pedestrian was killed in a crash Saturday afternoon in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

According to police, around 4:22 p.m., officers responded to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of 18th Street South and West St. Germain Street. When they arrived, officers found that a 59-year-old St. Cloud woman was walking north on the outside lane of West St. Germain when she was struck by a car.

The driver, an 84-year-old woman, was heading north in the outside lane of West St. Germain and struck the pedestrian from behind. A passing ambulance responded immediately and began performing life-saving measures. The woman died at the scene.

The entire roadway of West St. Germain was closed to all traffic from Quarry Road to 22nd Street South for several hours while the Minnesota State Patrol and the St. Cloud Police Department conducted an investigation into the collision. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with investigative efforts.

The pedestrian has been identified as Cindy Jean Wiesner of St. Cloud.
