Pedestrian in critical condition after being struck by train in St. Paul

A woman is in critical condition after being struck by a train in St. Paul, according to a Metro Transit spokesperson. 

The incident happened just after 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Snelling and University Avenues, shutting down service for trains in the area for roughly 50 minutes.

The woman was crossing Snelling Avenue from the east and was first struck by an westbound train, which knocked her into a eastbound train that was also passing by at the time. She was taken to Regions Hospital with head and foot injuries, where she remains in critical condition.

Metro Transit Police are investigating the incident.
