Teen in critical after stabbing outside East Ridge HS

A 16-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was stabbed outside of East Ridge High School in Woodbury after a high school basketball sectional game around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday night, the Washington County sheriff's office said.

Two suspects were taken into custody, but have since been released. It is not believed they had any involvement in the incident. The teen was transported to a nearby hospital and is listed critical condition.

It's unknown whether the people involved were students. Authorities are reviewing surveillance video and are asking the public for help in identifying the suspects.

Friday, the superintendent Christine Osorio for School District 622 released the following statement:

"Following tonight’s North - Tartan Section 4AAAA boys’ basketball game at East Ridge High School a fight broke out and one juvenile male was stabbed. Two juvenile males are in custody and police are investigating the incident. At this time there is no indication that students from District 622 are involved.

If you or your student have questions or concerns, please contact your school administrator directly. As you know, there is no school tomorrow for students in District 622 but school counselors will be available next week for any students who may have witnessed this incident and would like to talk."
