One dies in south Minneapolis house fire

Friends say Fernando Mancia had recently arrived from Honduras and was working as a cook. On Sunday morning, he was found dead after a house fire in south Minneapolis.

At 3:21 Sunday morning, the Minneapolis Fire Department responded to the fire at a two-and-a-half story house 3433 Chicago Ave S., the fire showing from the rear porch. The fire extended to the garage and first and second floor and the next-door neighbor said flames melted his siding, but his home structure remained intact. While conducting searches in the home, crews discovered the victim but the Hennepin County medical examiner's office has not officially released his identity. No one else was hurt.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. This marks the third fatality of 2015 in Minneapolis.
