1 dead, 1 arrested after shooting in St. Paul

One person is dead following a shooting in St. Paul's West 7th neighborhood. 

St. Paul Police say one person is dead after a shooting in a house in the West Seventh neighborhood. Wednesday night. 

The shooting happened around 11 p.m. on the 400 block of Michigan Street. When police responded, they found an man suffering from a gunshot wound in the lower unit of a duplex.

Police provided first aid until paramedics arrived, but their attempts were unsuccessful and the man passed away at the scene.

There is a man in custody and police say there is no threat to the public. The medical examiner will identify the victim and determine a cause of death. 

The shooting remains under investigation. This is the city's 22nd homicide of 2017.
