Olivia, Oliver top Minnesota baby names in 2017

There will be a lot of Olivers and Olivias starting to toddle over the next few months—the two names topped the list of popular baby names in Minnesota for 2017, according to the Social Security Administration. 

Nationwide, Oliver was the ninth most popular baby boy name while Olivia ranked as the second most popular name for baby girls. 

The top five baby boys names for 2017 in Minnesota: 

1. Oliver
2. William
3. Henry 
4. Liam
5. Theodore

Liam ranked as the most popular baby boy name nationwide and William grabbed third place. Neither Henry nor Theodore made the Social Security Administration's list of the top 10 most popular baby names in the United States.  

The top five baby girls names for 2017 in Minnesota:

1. Olivia
2. Evelyn
3. Emma 
4. Charlotte
5. Nora 

Nationwide, Emma was the most popular baby girl name. Charlotte ranked seventh and Evelyn was the ninth most popular baby girl name in the country. Although Nora was the fifth most popular name in Minnesota, it wasn't included in the top 10 most popular baby girl names in the United States.
