Nun from Minnesota goes viral for impressive first pitch at White Sox game

- A nun from Minnesota is gaining notoriety after delivering a first pitch with some flair at an MLB game Saturday.

Sister Mary Jo Sobieck, originally from St. Cloud, Minn., now works at Marian Catholic High School in Illinois. Saturday was Marian Catholic High School day night at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago and the school gave Sobieck the ball for the first pitch.

The baseball world fell in love with Sister Mary Jo after she bounced the baseball off of her arm and proceeded to throw a sharp curveball to the catcher for the first pitch.

According to the Northwest Indiana Times, Sobieck is a graduate of Cathedral high School in St. Cloud in 1987.

She went on to get her bachelor’s degree from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth where she played volleyball and softball.

After she graduated, she taught at Holy Rosary School in Duluth.
