NHL great Lou Nanne and local restauranteur Michael McDermott announced Tuesday that they’re partnering to bring a stylish steakhouse to Edina in early 2016. The new restaurant, Lou Nanne’s, will be located at 7651 France Avenue South.

Nanne spent his entire career as a player, and later coach, for the Minnesota North Stars

“Partnering with a Minnesota legend like Lou Nanne is not something that happens everyday,” McDermott said. “We’re looking forward to introducing a new and different restaurant concept to a community that is special to both of us.”

McDermott and Nanne completed their culinary direction by hiring Chef Josh Hill, formerly the executive chef of Manny’s Steakhouse.  The menu includes locally sourced dry-aged beef as well as contemporary sides including Lobster Mac and Cheese, Grilled Artichoke Hearts, and Roast Burgundy Mushrooms.

“I’m excited to partner with McDermott Restaurants to bring a steakhouse to Edina,” Nanne said. “Michael and his team have unparalleled experience in this industry and I’m confident that this restaurant will become a neighborhood favorite.”

Though it’s still in the early planning phase, Lou Nanne’s “will pay homage to the design sense of a classic, sophisticated steakhouse with an urban feel.”
